THE FOUNDATIONS OF MY JEWELLERY ARE FIRMLY ROOTED IN THE LOVE OF PEARLS
Our vintage manmade pearls were part of a consignment found on the premises of a Birmingham jewellery manufacturer that closed at the turn of the century. Discovered with the pearls were invoices dated 1940 and 1941. I have since hand-strung these into our pieces.
In the 17th century a Parisian rosary maker named Jaquin developed a sticky organic material that could be used to coat beads to resemble genuine pearls that only wealthy people could afford. Our vintage manmade pearls were made using this older technique.
Faux Vintage Pearls in perfect condition, never worn and strung with great care and when I say graduated I ensure that the pearls graduate seamlessly in size - millimetre by millimetre.
No creature was harmed in the making of these pearls.
Working life started on the diamond mines, then studied and graduated from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA, Los Angeles)in 1982. I spent many happy years in the jewellery trade and was the UK/European Manager for Sale and Distribution for one of the world's best jewellery findings manufacturers. Also held the position of Trade Sector Representative for material suppliers at the British Jewellers Association (BJA)as well as their representative at UNIBIF(European Costume Jewellers Association).
Am 68 years old, yip - live in a small English village, still a hippie at heart, love the blues, my guitar, red wine, a good argument, Levi's and creating unique jewellery.
